Another Huge Year of Youth Led Grantmaking

YouthBanks made massive investments into local communities throughout the UK during 2009/10.  More than 2500 project ideas from young people were given funding totalling over £8.5million by local YouthBanks during the year.  This funding has benefited 200,000 young people.

Katy Neilson, YouthBank UK Development Officer, is delighted that so much funding has been targeted at supporting young people’s priorities – “YouthBank puts money directly into the hands of young people.  All the funded projects are young people’s own ideas about what needs improving in their local community.  All the decisions about who gets the money are made by young people too - it’s great to know that the needs identified by young people themselves are met by this funding”.
