Trustee Board
As well as leading the work of local Youthbanks, young people also lead the organisation UK-wide through our Trustee Board and Advisory Forum.
The Trustee Board is made up of up to 12 young people all aged under 30. Up to 6 of the Trustees are recruited from the Advisory Forum, up to 3 are recruited direct from local YouthBanks and up to 3 are recruited from outside of the organisation.
This system ensures that we have Trustees that come direct from the heart of our organisation – local YouthBanks – as well as young people with specialist skills, knowledge and experience that we might need but who aren’t part of the YouthBank UK network. Each Trustee has a 2 year term but the terms are staggered so we only change a maximum of 6 Trustees per year ensuring continuity.
The Trustees meet quarterly and maintain contact with each other and YouthBank UK staff between meetings through conference calls and e-mails. The Trustees responsibilities include
• Making sure YouthBank UK operates to its vision and values (Golden Rules and Strategic Aims)
• Being accountable for the overall finances of YouthBank UK
• Making key decisions on strategy and policy
• Being responsible for the supervision and appraisal of the Chief Executive
• Agreeing the Business Plan and other key strategies and policies
